The Beauty Blender sponge has truly changed the way we apply our makeup. It more sanitary than using your fingers and more natural looking than a brush. The Beauty Blender sponge helps foundation to look flawless whether you are a seasoned pro or a newbie. A few years ago, Beauty Blender released their newest product, a foundation. At first the launch was a complete disaster for the lack of range in the darker shades. The brand immediately got trashed all over social media. But, they quickly snapped back and announced more dark shades. Where I first heard about this product is from famous beauty influencer Tati Westbrook (who sadly no longer is making YouTube videos). I trust Tati's opinion and if she says a product is amazing then I have to try it. I had been eyeing it since it's initial release, but waited on buying it because of the controversy. Last week I was browsing the Sephora website and noticed that the Beauty Blender foundation was now 50% off the original price. I thought now is definitely the time to try it. To begin, the bottle is....unique. The reason the package is designed this way is so the foundation falls onto the rounded base, creating a palette to work off of. This was overall very messy and it got annoying having to constantly clean the bottle before placing back in my makeup drawer. But, points for trying to be innovative I guess. The back of the bottle also has an interesting locking mechanism. This felt a bit useless as the foundation wouldn't come out anyways unless it is pumped out. I felt these two features were a bit odd and unhelpful. Now, onto the actual product inside. According to the Beauty Blender website this foundation is "full coverage, matte, and lasts for up to 24 hours." I couldn't disagree more. The coverage is a literal JOKE. I have tinted moisturizers with better coverage than this. I had to apply SEVERAL layers before I could notice any real difference. But, at that point my skin felt weighed down by all the product on top. I thought maybe my primer was too moisturizing and is ruining the coverage. I reached for a trusty pore filling silicone based primer to see if that would help the product. But sadly, it performed just the same. Side tip, when you are trying a new foundation or concealer, start with a primer you know works well for you. That way you can determine how good the foundation is because you are using it on top of a product that you already love! On another note, this foundation was not matte. It gave my skin a light, dewy finish. It was so dewy in fact that it took about 10 min to dry down (not ideal). Beauty Blender also says that there is "24 hour coverage." That is absolutely false. I wore this foundation during a six hour shift at work and by the end of the day the product had moved and was very creased. Overall, I am very disappointed with this product. This may be one of the worst foundations I have tried. It's not worth $40 and not even worth the $20 sale price. Beauty Blender, please stick to making sponges.
