Lately, I have been trying to find better ways to take my makeup off. Regular makeup wipes can actually be detrimental to skin if used too often. When using wipes, quite a bit of pressure has to be applied in order to get the makeup to lift from the face, especially around the eyes. Your eyes are a delicate area already, but when you are constantly rubbing at them trying to get eyeliner or mascara off, it can actually cause premature aging. Also, there are very FEW makeup wipes with ingredients that actually break down excess oils, makeup, and cleanse. I have been using my Makeup Eraser for years now. I love it, but sometimes it just isn't enough. I have tried other cleansing balms before, like the Clinique Take the Day Off, but it irritated my eyes so badly I ended up returning it. The Elemis balm has calming, essential ingredients like lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus to calm skin and invigorate the senses with aromatherapy. It also has Padina Pavonica, an anti-aging element found in algae. This cleansing balm is free from harsh ingredients like parabens, artificial colors, and mineral oils. I like to get a pea sized amount and rub it around on my hands to warm it up. Then I apply it to the places that have the most makeup/product buildup such as my eyes, nose, and chin. I swirl it around until I literally see the product glide off. I finish by taking a warm wash cloth and wiping it off my face. I noticed my skin instantly looked brighter and more plump. However, I still had a bit of makeup leftover despite using a cleansing balm. After using this product, I had to double cleanse just to make sure all the leftover buildup was off. I was a bit disappointed that I had to cleanse a second time when it should have only taken once, especially since this product was so expensive. It made my skin look glowy, but for so much I expected more. I will be using the rest of the jar, but I probably won't be buying it again. I prefer my Bare Minerals Total Cleansing Oil as it penetrates through makeup quicker and is about $30 cheaper.
