Jaclyn Cosmetics has been killing it lately. I have been obsessed with every product I've tried from her brand. But this one just missed the mark. Her second launch (or third, I can't remember exactly) was all about powder face products. She released an under eye primer, a pressed translucent powder, a brightening & setting palette, and loose baking powders. In this launch, the only thing I really was dying to try was the loose powder. For some reason, pressed setting powders just don't work for me. But, baking with a loose powder always makes my face look snatched. However, this is not your ordinary setting powder. It comes in 5 unique colors (most of which are not translucent/skin toned). There is a brightening lilac for fair skin tones, a brightening pink for light skin tones, brightening light banana for light to medium skin tones, brightening banana for medium to tan skin tones, and brightening apricot for tan to deep skin tones. I was VERY hesitant to even try this product because of the unique colors. But, my coworker swears by the light pink brightening powder by Morphe. I thought if any brand can pull this off, it's Jaclyn. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. On the bright side (pun intended), the feeling of this product is beautiful. It's an extremely finely milled powder that is silky soft to the touch. But, my main issue with this product is the fact that the coloring doesn't vanish. Yes, you read that right, you will have purple blotches on your face where you baked with the powder. I immediately panicked. I spent several minutes with a fluffy brush trying to dust off the excess. However, it wouldn't budge. To even things out, I eventually had to go in with a powder foundation to cover up the purple. I tried it a few more times, hoping it was MY mistake and not an issue with the product. But, I STILL had to cover it up. I ended up returning this because it was nearly $30 and so not worth it. This powder may work for some people, but that was not my experience. If she released a loose translucent powder, I would for sure want to give that a try. The lilac was just not it.
