Honestly, I had no intentions of purchasing any Kylie Skin products. I think some of this is because of the "negative" feedback on her products, but mostly I think it's because I already have so many other skincare products that I know work for me. Kylie Skin launched in May 2019. Obviously her first launch broke all sorts of records. The brand is estimated to be worth around $16 million dollars according to networthspot.com. Although the brand isn't as popular as it was in its initial launch, it still makes over $3 million a year. Most of this is due to the fact that it's simply her name. As much as I love her, I won't just buy something because her name is on it. I like to do my research, read reviews, and then see for myself if its worth it. But, when the Kylie Cosmetics brand representative brought us products to try, I couldn't say no. This was the perfect opportunity to make my own opinions. Along with other skincare products, this moisturizer has several key ingredients. The main one is shea butter. Shea butter is a proven nutrient in providing deep hydration to the skin. Another key ingredient is sodium hyaluronate. This is a derivative of hyaluronic acid which naturally plumps the skin. Despite these two great initial ingredients, there are also some not so great ingredients I feel I need to mention. Glycerin, dimethicone, and cetyl alcohol. In small amounts these products don't usually affect the skin negatively, but these 3 are pretty high in the list which means that they are in higher amounts. However, it doesn't say specifically HOW much of each ingredient is in there, Kylie could have put better ingredients in there. Especially with how much the brand makes annually. Besides that factor, this moisturizer is overall just okay. Is it the worst skincare item I've ever used? No. But, certainly isn't the best either. Aesthetically, the packaging is spot on. I feel like all her packaging and products are very true to the Kylie brand. But, the pump on the bottle isn't great. I do prefer a pump on my skincare products vs. a jar since it is more hygienic. But, this one has a horrible issue of getting clogged. I'm not sure if I got a bad bottle or what, but the only way I can get it to work is if I squeeze the bottle while pressing on the pump. Formula wise, this product is great at first and initially feels really hydrating but the skin goes back to feeling like normal after about 30 minutes. This is most likely due to the alcohol in here that quickly dries out the skin. So, this product isn't great if you're like me and have normal to dry skin. The only time I feel like this product works well is under my makeup. If I'm doing a full face right after my skincare routine, I use this as my moisturizer because by the time I start to do my eyebrows it no longer feels greasy and almost gets a tacky texture to it so it also doubles as a primer. If I were you, I'd pass on this one. I can't speak for the rest of the line but this product is just okay. There are much better products on the market for the same price (or cheaper) that work better and have better ingredients. Since this was free, I'm going to finish the bottle. But, I don't think I'll be trying anything from the Kylie Skin line.
