L.A. Girl is a drugstore hidden gem. Many people rave about their high quality concealers, but one of my favorite products from them are their eyeshadow palettes. The past few times i've gotten a palette its been bright, neon shades. But, with fall approaching, I felt it was time for some more neutral, warm tones. I also didn't need another huge 30 pan palette (my drawers barely close as is). When we got this in stock at work, I instantly knew I had to have it. This 9 pan mini palette has 5 neutral, smokey mattes and 4 shimmers. The bottom two shimmers have a unique formula though. They say these are "lid toppers," but they are honestly just a cream shadow. They have a buttery smooth formula that transfers beautifully on the lid. You can use these with your finger or brush (the brush does not need to be wet for the shadows to perform). These two is what definitely makes the palette stand out from others. I honestly have never seen such a smooth shimmer formula with such high payoff, especially at the drugstore. The two regular shimmers above are also beautiful. My favorite color in the palette is the middle "greige" shade. It goes well with a light brown eye or you can play it up and add to the lid on a heavy smokey eye as well. All 4 of the mattes perform beautifully too. Except for the black shadow. Now, this isn't the worst black formula I have tried, but seeing how well the others worked, I expected this one to be just as good. Surprisingly, black and purple are the hardest colors to perfect. You have to get the right amount of pigment without it staining or appearing patchy. But, aside from the black shade, all the other mattes are amazing. The 3 brown shades may look the same, but there is just enough variation in the coloring that its makes a PERFECTLY blended brown eye look. I also use the cream shadow everyday as a base for bright shadows! Overall, this palette is a MUST. You get high quality shadows for under $10. That makes each shadow a little over a dollar a piece (which is a great price considering what other brands charge). I highly suggest to snatch up this palette while you can!
