Recently, I decided to go outside of my comfort zone (Ulta) to a place I rarely visit (Sephora). I'm pretty partial not only because I know Ulta is a great company to work for, but you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for good makeup. Sephora is all about luxury beauty, which is fine, but I'm just a broke college girl who likes to use all the discounts she can get. When I stepped into Sephora my main thing I needed to find was a new setting powder. I am OBSESSED with my Laura Mercier setting powder, but I wanted to try something from a brand that we didn't carry at Ulta. I asked one of the workers his favorite powder. He of course said the Laura Mercier powder, but his second favorite was the Milk Makeup loose setting powder. I have only tried a few items from Milk, but it was years ago when the brand first launched so this is my first real review of a Milk product. This powder is talc-free and silicone-free. The lightweight formula feels weightless on skin while blurring imperfections and locking in makeup. Since this powder is a natural skin tone, not white, it won't cause flashback or a white cast when you take photos. This powder is formulated with avocado oil and hyaluronic acid to help skin look smooth without settling into fine lines and looking cakey. The only thing I dislike about this product is that it comes with a mesh opening. When I first used this, I had a very hard time getting the right amount of powder out. So I improvised and decided to remove the mesh layer with a pair of tweezers. You can apply this powder with a damp sponge or a big fluffy powder brush. I have used this with full coverage matte foundations as well as light dewey tinted moisturizers. It lays beautifully every time it's applied, giving the skin a velvety soft look. My Laura Mercier powder is still my all time favorite, but this one is a close second and about $15 cheaper.
