Oil. Primer. Those are two words I never thought would go together. But, oil primers have been quite popular in the beauty industry for a while now. I first heard about them from Jaclyn Hill. She uses Smahsbox's primer oil and swears that it gives her skin a "juicy glow." She uses the product as her literal primer. But, she will sometimes dab a bit onto a damp sponge and press it into her makeup once it's fully set. She says this helps the skin to appear more dewy and fresh (however, I'm not brave enough to try it yet.) There are several primer oils on the market, but this one caught my eye because it's main ingredient is vitamin C. Vitamin is what I like to call "a skin savior." This awesome vitamin helps to keep skin looking bright and balanced. This product has a one of a kind 3 layer formula that helps to prep, prime, and nourish skin before makeup. This product absorbs once pressed into skin. Unlike other greasy feeling oils, the finish is silky smooth (similar to a pore filling primer). Once dried, just apply makeup like normal! Pixi also recommends to shake the product well before use to ensure you're getting the most out of the 3 layer system. This product has a light scent of orange (kind of similar to Tang). But, it isn't overpowering and quickly goes away once the foundation is applied. This product claims to be suitable for all skin types, but I wouldn't suggest it if you have oily skin. The oil comes in a luxurious glass compartment with a glass dropper that helps to deliver the perfect amount of product every time. $28 may seem like a lot for a primer, but the Smashbox one is a whopping $42 for the same size. The ingredients in this product are also all natural, paraben free, and not tested on animals. I was a bit weary to try this product at first because I was scared my foundation would slide right off with an oil base. But, I was shocked at how well it worked! My foundation didn't move or crease AT ALL!! It also gave me a healthy, fresh glow. I'm seriously blown away by this product. If you have dry skin like me, this is your perfect primer (especially in winter).
