Tan Towels were actually the first self tanner I ever tried. When I was in middle school and high school people CONSTANTLY pointed out/made fun of how pale I was. It never really bothered me until I got older when other girls came back from summer break with a dark, glowy tan. I felt a bit like an outcast for not looking how they did. Side note, 1) you do not need to CHANGE YOURSELF to conform to society's idea of beauty, you're perfect the way you are. 2) I tan now because I am older and it makes me feel good about myself...I no longer do it for the approval of others. When I first tried these, (they were my moms and I would secretly take them, oops sorry) I thought I looked amazing! I finally felt pretty like all the other girls my age. I am now older (and wiser) and have tried a variety of other products that work MUCH BETTER. Before I slam this product, I want to mention what I actually like about it. The idea is actually quite innovative. Most sunless tanners are a mousse or spray formula in which you need to buy a tanning mitt separate. Tan Towels eliminated that hassle and the need for a mitt. The towelette is already soaked in product, all you need to do is swipe it on. But, be warned, it still turns your hands orange. So, in the end, I think the mitt is still a better option. I also think their tagline is hilarious too. But, sadly, there are more cons than pros with this product. To start off, this product has that NASTY fake tan smell. Yeah, you know the one that lingers for days no matter how many times you shower. This product also fades quickly, one application will last you about 2-3 days. With the St. Tropez tanning mousse, my tan lasts almost a week. This product can also be streaky. I saw stripes all over the place after this product dried (not cute!). The price is also wayyy too high in my opinion. You get 5 tan towels for $29. But, one towel is NOT enough for your whole body and face. I actually ended up using two. I have even opened a brand new towel and it is dried out completely! I don't recommend the Tan Towel. I love the idea of the product, but it still has a few kinks in the product for me get behind. In my opinion, you are better off just using tanning mousse and a mitt. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
