I've always dealt with dark under eyes. I think most of that has to do with how pale I am, but as I get older it's only getting worse. The skin under the eyes is getting thinner, I'm working more, and my skin takes longer to bounce back than it once did. I've been on the hunt lately for the perfect eye cream. I need something that takes away the bags and lines, hydrates, as well as brightens (kind of asking a lot, I guess). I have tried many eye creams, but I have yet to find one that meets all these needs. Since The Ordinary has launched, I've heard customers RAVE about how powerful their caffeine solution is. This innovative serum is a lightweight liquid formula versus the standard thick cream. I was rather stunned at this new type of product. Did this work formulation work better because the skin could absorb it quicker? Or does the delicate under eye area need all that extra hydration to stay healthy? There are two main ingredients in this product: a high concentration of caffeine to help decrease puffiness and EGCG from green tea to visibly reduce dark circles. You can use this product both morning and night (no, the caffeine will not keep you awake). Unlike a thick cream, you can easily wear makeup on top of this without it feeling too heavy. Since the under eye is such a sensitive area, this product is made without harsh ingredients like alcohol, fragrance, silicones, sulfates, parabens, and dyes to name a few. To properly use this product, drop one dot of product under each eye contour then gently massage to evenly distribute the serum. I've been using this serum for a few months now and I have some mixed feelings on it. I do agree with the fact that it helps to de-puff, especially in the mornings. After a few minutes after applying, you can instantly see the results. I also SLIGHTLY saw a reduction in dark circles. But, it wasn't as dramatic as I had hoped. However, the more you use it, the more results you'll see (which is the case with most skincare). Unfortunately, this product was not hydrating at all. Since it is such a thin, liquidy formula my eye bags and lines only have gotten worse due to dehydration. To keep the skin looking plump and healthy, you have to keep it hydrated. Since this product doesn't claim to keep under eyes hydrated, I won't dock it there. However, I was hoping that it would fix my bags since it does have such a high solution of caffeine and green tea. I don't hate this product, but I need something that will do more. I think I'll finish this bottle and start to pair it with a hydrating cream. But after that, I'm going to keep hunting for the perfect eye cream that checks all my boxes.
