Wet N Wild used to be very hit or miss. However, over the last few years the brand has really stepped up their game. I'm not sure if there is someone new in charge or what, but they have been killing it lately. At work, I always see people buying their Photo Focus setting powder. I assumed it was because it was inexpensive and there was a lot of product. I went ahead and did some research and this product has almost 1,000 5 star reviews on Ulta.com. I was shocked at how obsessed people were with this. I was also curious as to why I've never heard influencers talk about this product. I decided to investigate further and bought the product for myself. Let me begin by saying, the component is HUGE. The only other setting powder I've seen that is this big is the Anastasia Beverly Hills setting powder which is almost triple the price. I was impressed that Wet n Wild was offering this much product for only $5.99. Wet n Wild describes this powder as, "a silky weightless setting powder that can be used to set, mattify, absorb oil or bake." The translucent finish doesn't add extra coverage which helps makeup to look as natural as possible. It leaves a smooth, airbrushed finish on the skin, making the face seem almost velvet like. The translucent color has a hint of a cream shade to ensure there is no white cast or flash back. The texture of the powder is so so finely milled that it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. The formula is also mattifying to help diminish excess shine, but, is airy enough it isn't too drying for already parched skin. When I first tried this product, I set my expectations low. I'm not sure if it was because I didn't expect it to be amazing since it was so cheap. But, boy was I blown away by this product. I would say this is definitely a hidden gem at the drugstore. I place this product in a close second behind my favorite setting powder by Laura Mercier. I love how versatile this product is. I feel like most powders are either great for baking or loosely setting the face. There are very few that can do both well. On my lighter days, I simply go in with a fluffy powder brush and dust the product to softly set my liquid foundation. On days where I need more coverage, I get a damp sponge and bake under my eyes and on my chin to ensure that my concealer and foundation doesn't move. I was amazed at how well it kept my makeup in place. Since I have such dry skin, it can be difficult to find a powder that doesn't totally dry my face out. This is a great find whether you have oily, dry, or normal skin. If you are on a budget and in need of a new powder, this one is a game changer.
